For
more than 20 years SISTER ROMA has been one of the most
outspoken and highly visible members of the SISTERS OF
PERPETUAL INDULGENCE, the leading-edge order of queer nuns.
Since their first appearance on Easter Sunday of 1979 in San
Francisco, the Sisters have devoted themselves to community
service, ministry and outreach to those on the edges, and to
promoting human rights, respect for diversity and spiritual
enlightenment.
The Sisters believe all have a right to express their unique joy
and beauty and use humor and irreverent wit to expose the forces
of bigotry, complacency and guilt that chain the human spirit.
Based
in San Francisco where it all started, Sister Roma has worked to
fight for human rights, speak at colleges and universities and
demonstrations, and most of all raise nearly 1+million dollars
for HIV and AIDS.
Sister Roma has been taken into "her" secular life, where he has
worked in the adult industry for 15 years. Currently he is the
Art Director for Hot House Entertainment and the co-host of The
Tim and Roma show produced by NakedSword.com. He is the annual
host on the Red Carpet for the GAYVN Awards in Los Angeles and
San Francisco and Grabby Awards in Chicago.
Sister Roma has been an MC on the main stage of Pride in San
Francisco and at the Folsom Street Fair for more than 10 years,
appearing before crowds estimated to be in the hundreds of
thousands.
She is also a regular guest on radio and has appeared on
television talk shows as well as on Bravo’s Kathy Griffin: My
Life on the D-List. She has MC’d and judged more contests than
she can remember, from wet jockey shorts to big cocks to bare
chests to drag pageants to award shows and community service
events.
